The students in the Intermediate Chorus performed at the Awards Night Ceremony on June 6th, 2002. The selection was titled After Beeps. It is a collection of folk tunes that have had lyrics written for use as answering machine messages. Mrs. Westover then challenged the chorus members to work in groups of two and create their own message. They had to select a folk tune and either find the melody score or figure it out themselves and write it out on staff paper. Next they wrote their original lyrics being careful to make sure that it had a natural flow and fit the rhythm patterns. In some cases they had to alter the rhythms slightly to fit the text. Then they wrote their lyrics below the notes giving each word or syllable its place. Here are their messages-
