Down in a day,
Wednesday, August 29th.

Using a delicate touch on September 5th (the first day of school), this excavator operator coaxes the last of the 1929 structure to ground level.

The week of September 9th included continuing excavation of the site adjacent to the gym and 1908 building, as well as pouring of the perimeter footing.

Parking has moved to the lower athletic field while the new parking site is graded and rolled.

Construction crews got a early foggy-morning start on September 21st.

If you squint your eyes, you can almost imagine these tiers and piles as softball, baseball, and field hockey fields. (October 2001)

Excavation for drainage on the athletic fields, curbing and surface preparation for the new parking lot, and perimeter foundation work characterized project activities the second week of October.

Equipment continued to rumble through October. Foundation work moved from the perimeter to internal footings. Paving and curbing continued on the parking lot. The new Bumps Creek bridge was hoisted into place on
November 1st.

The crane has been busy unloading steel beams from flatbed trailers as well as lifting beams overhead to site locations. Students have enjoyed watching the acrobatic workers as they scale the high steel.

With the installation of decking on the steel framework, crews poured concrete floors and surfaced them high above ground level.

Cinder block walls begin to go up at the corner of the future MS/HS Library.

At the other end of the building, cranes positioned enormous sections of septic tanks into a truly enormous hole in ground.
