Afton Central School Superintendent Search Update
The Afton Central Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mr. Timothy McNamara has accepted its offer to be the next Superintendent of Schools.  The Board will formalize this appointment at the December 7th Board of Education meeting.  Mr. McNamara was chosen at the end of a search process which began last August and concluded with full-day district interviews with two finalists last week.

Mr. McNamara has been an educator since 1991, and is currently serving as the principal of the Downsville Central School District.  Prior to that he has served as; an assistant principal at Sidney and Mayfield, a director of health and Physical Education at Mohonasen, and a physical education teacher at St Gregory’s School and Wildwood School.  He received his Associates Degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College, his Bachelor of Science from Brockport, and his Masters from the College of St. Rose.  He obtained his School Administrator/Supervisor Certification from the College of St. Rose, and his School District Administrator Certificate from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Mr. McNamara currently lives with his family in Sidney.  He is active in coaching youth sports, and expressed his desire to become an active part of the Afton community.  The Afton Board of Education looks forward to working together with him on our mission to serve our students in early January.
