Program Overview

A comprehensive developmental school counseling program provides opportunities and experiences that address three central student-development areas: learning to live (social/emotional), learning to learn (academic), and learning to work (career). It includes activities designed to address the needs of all students by helping them acquire competencies in the knowledge of self and others, in identifying their educational goals, and in their own career development. The program is implemented in each school by New York State certified school counselors with the support of the teachers, administrators, students, and parents.

Program Goals

Academic Achievement Goals:
  • Students will acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and across the life span.
