From The Daily Star Afton one-hits defending Class D champion Schenevus Staff Report Josh Jennings and Dustin Kemmerer combined on a one-hitter to help Afton slay the Dragons of Schenevus, 5-1, in a Section Four Class D baseball quarterfinal on Tuesday. Schenevus had been the two-time defending sectional champion. Jennings pitched the first four innings and did not allow a hit. Kemmerer relieved and gave up a hit to Chris Comino in the fifth, when Schenevus scored its run. Anthony Carimando, who drove in the Dragons' run on a groundout, took the loss for Schenevus (11-4). He allowed two hits and struck out four. All his runs were unearned as the Dragons defense committed six errors. "I just think it was a well-played game by both teams and they made some plays that we didn't make," Schenevus co-coach Greg Bonczkowski said. "I didn't think either team could get a hit in crucial situations." David Hopkins and Dustin Kemmerer had the hits for Afton, which will play top-seeded Hancock a 12-5 winner of G-MU in the semifinals on Thursday. 12-AFTON 5 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
