AFTON 62, GMU 43 A 16-day layoff led to a sluggish start for Afton, but a 22-point third quarter sparked the hosts to a win. Afton, which led only 22-17 at halftime, used a full-court pressure to generate six steals in the third quarter. Coach John Simonds estimated his team converted those into at least eight points. Five Afton players scored in the quarter, including Renee Kemmerer's 12 points. Crystal Simonds had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Afton (5-3). Teammate Katy Krom also had 10 boards.
