Brainstorming
12/11/00

The project begins with brainstorming ideas for the campaign. Students work in small groups to develop ideas that will help get the word out about the health problems related to smoking: Ideas include: flyers, rallies, stickers, morning announcements, newspaper articles, and this web page!

Poem
by Sarah Rice

A wise old fellow sat in an oak
because of what he saw, he didn't smoke.

Because he didn't smoke, he didn't smell bad,
and so, of course, he was glad.

Because he didn't smoke, his teeth were not yellow.
Why can't we all be like that wise old fellow?

Posters

The posters shown on the right and below are two of the many poster hung by the seventh grade anti-smoking campaign. The posters are full of facts that tell people the truth about smoking. The posters tell you about what cancers come from smoking and what to say to smoking. Jon
Manderville stands in front of the poster to the left. Both posters are made Chelsea Beames.

The 5 reasons not to smoke are:

1. Tobacco contains substances that increase yor risk of developing cancer.

2. Tobacco use (smoking or smokeless) cause very bad breath.

3. It is estimated that every cigarette a person smokes takes about 12 minutes off his or her life.

4. Fires from cigarettes cause 25,000 deaths each year.

5. Smoking during pregnancy can harm the developing baby.

Some other slogans are:

If you smoke a pack a day it's
$5.00 a day
$35 a week
$1,825 a year.
So what do you say to smoking???
NO!!!

Why smoke? You think your cool?
Be cool and don't smoke!!

You won't live
to be an old folk
if you choose to smoke.

Sports, Mind, Life, School, and Family?
It all go's to waste with just one mistake...
DON'T SMOKE!!!
