The USDA has issued new guidelines for the School Nutrition Programs.  As encouragement for students to eat more fruits and vegetables, students will be required to take a fruit and/or vegetable with their meal.  We will have many different options available to choose from, including raw and cooked vegetables and canned or fresh fruit.

We are asking for parents help in using this requirement as a teaching tool for good health.  Encouraging your child to try different fruit and vegetable offerings will give them a lifetime of good eating habits.  Have them tell you what they had in school that day and have them help you prepare it at home.  Maybe they will try something you haven’t and you will like it!

The school website has a School Food Service section that has lots of great information, including what produce is reasonably priced by the month, and has links to nutritional websites that contain lots of information, interactive games, recipes and more.

Help us help your child be the best that they can be!
