The article "Parrotfishes" was written by Milton Love. It was about...parrotfishes! They live by coral reefs, in seagrass, or over rocks. Parrotfishes live in large groups. Parrotfishes eat algae. They get the algae from dead coral or rocks. The fish takes a mouthful of dead coral and crunches ut making such a loud noise that divers can hear far away. Parrotfish have been using a very unique way of protecting themselves from predators. They make a bubble, a mucus bubble which comes from their skin. The younger or smaller parrotfishes usually only make these shields. Moray eels prey on the sleepinf parrotfishes who decided not to make a shield. Some marine snails have been known to also crawl into the unprotectyed sleeping fish and suck up their blood and body fluids. The male and female fishes look so different that sometimes they don't even look like the same species. The parrotfish actually start out life as a female and tranforms into a male when they get oilder. | ||||
